I also have a lump in my throat alot of the time without the heatburn. I did't realize what it was until I complained to my husband and the doctors. I guess it is part of gerd. I also experience a little chest tightening and sometimes some pain in my lower ribs. I spoke to a surgeon at a seminar on gerd last week. He told me that since I rarely get heartburn to continue on the acid reducers and eat the special diet. He thought I would be a borderline candidate for surgery.
