Dear Chris,

I am also unable to swallow solids due to complications of GERD. Since March of this year I have survived by consuming cans of Boost (Butter Pecan is the thinnest and tastes reasonably good.) and plain ice cream, yogurt without fruit (Yoplait French Vanilla with brown sugar sprinkled on top is good and contains a decent amount of calories.) supplemented by popsicles and chicken broth. I also drink a vitamin drink each morning using Lifizz vitamin tablets which dissolve in water. You can purchase these vitamins at www.lifizz.com if you can't find them in a store in your area.

I have an esophageal web and a stricture of my upper esophagus. Both of these are the result of my GERD not being treated or controlled for a long period of time. These problems are the reason I am unable to swallow solids. If you have a web and/or stricture, these should show on a barium swallow x-ray or during an endoscopy. I am also unable to speak loudly or "throw" my voice due to irritation of my larnyx area, so I can't imagine how you are able to sing for such long periods of time each day.

Please write me if you have questions or if there is any information I can share with you. This is a very lonely disease to have, since almost everything in life revolves around some type of eating. I do understand much of what you are experiencing.
