Not long after being diagnosed with GERDS (including bleeding ulcers on my esophagus) I began experiencing a feeling of fullness and a sensation of having liquid in one of my ears, as well as pain down deep in the ear. This was followed by noises in the ear (blowing/sometimes ringing) and, finally, a significant hearing loss (confirmed by tests). I also have a hollow feeling in that ear - some sounds echo and almost hurt. The cause for this has been diagnosed as either stress related or nerve damage resulting from a prior infection of which I was not aware. The loss of hearing in my bad ear continues to worsen, and I am now experiencing the same symtoms in my other ear. I have asked my doctor whether this could be the result of acid reflux penetrating the ear canal and have been told that it could not, but I just need to confirm that the two problems are not related because of the timing and coincidence of the symtoms. I am really fearful of deafness in both ears before I know the reason. I would very much appreciate any information, insight, or reassurance.
Thank you!
