coughing after eating

I have been having reflux for a while now and I'm going in for an upper GI tomorrow. But lately, I have started coughing after I eat....lots of phlegm and I have to keep clearing my throat. Sometimes at night it starts where I keep having to cough and clear...not when I sleep, just in the evening and, as I said, after I eat or drink water, etc. Is this related to my reflux? Thanks for your help.
