severe upper back pain!!

Hello

I am currently taking prevacid for acid reflux.I am now getting back pain a half dozen or so times a month, twice the pain was very severe including tonight.I would rate the pain tonight on a scale of 1-10 a 20.Last time this happened I called my doctor (somthing i never do at night) he told me to take my prevacid use my inhalor and take three extra strength tylenol.When I saw him in the morning he said it was probably a muscular skelton thing or some such stupid thing.Will you please tell me I am not crazy! This is so painful I cannot imagine going on like this.What should my next step be?This is not in my head that much I am sure of! Thank you
