just had my endoscopy and many other tests done. i was told that the endoscopy showed that the esophagus is working properly and there are no burns or lesions present only a litle red near the sphincter. the doctor is putting me on a mild antidepressant at bedtime and to take carafate 2 x a day for now until they get the rest of my test results. it seems as though there is no acid reflux showing up. then why the burning? if all my tests come back normal then it must be the nerve ends in my esophagus backfiring and sending a message to my brain of burning. what else could it be if there is no acid reflux showing up and the endoscope was normal with normal pressure? i have had an endoscope, upper gi series, 24 hr ph monitor, esophageal transit (radiology), esophageal reflex (radiology) and a monometry tests. i was on prevacid 2 x a day for several years and it really did not really help. something else besides acid is causing my burning. any suggestions? what do you think about the antidepressent for nerve reflexes in the esophagus?
