My surgeon's wife is critically ill and will not be in the office for awhile. I saw one of his associates today because I continue to have problems from Nissen performed Aug. 4th. I have been through Upper GI that was unremarkable, Barium Swallow with a barium tablet which was not seen to pass into my stomach, Gastric emptying test which was normal and an endoscopy with dilation Oct. 17th in which it was found my esophogus is still inflamed and was put on prevacid. I am no better. In fact, worse since the endoscopy. I now have heartburn again!! I still have the "lump" in my throat and the gas-bloat which is unrelenting. This new doctor today suggested putting a tube in my stomach for the gas. I want no part of that but was curious if any of you surgeons had done that. He also wants to do another endoscopy to dilate the strictured area I had before. I thought what they were dilating was the wrap until today. He says it may take several times doing this before it works. He feels maybe my food is not going down like it should which is causing the inflamation in my esophogus and the feeling of a "lump". He put me on liquid carafate. Since it has only been 2 weeks since I had the last endoscopy with dilation is this not too soon to have this done again? Would any of you do that this soon? I am in terrible shape here. I'm eating very little because I can't tolerate the side effects from it...ie, terrible bloating, gas and the "lump". Neither surgeon feels the wrap is too tight. I don't know what to do. Should I go ahead with another endoscopy and dilation so soon? Seems to me like that would just cause more trauma. PLEASE answer and help me!
