hiatal hernia and back pain

Recently, I've been diagnosed with a small hiatal hernia. I do not have frequent heartburn, but I do have frequent burning pain in my upper back, mostly to the left side by the shoulder blade, with some occasional tingling sensations. Is this related to the hernia? Which is better, Prilosec or Pepcid for treatment? What can I do about this? Can a hiatal hernia go away with time and diet changes?
