GERD and exercise/hormone therapy?

I've had GERD for years. Treated (and mostly controlled) the last three or so years with Prilosec. (Endoscopy in '96 showed esophagitis, a mild hiatal hernia, and some polyps.) Now, after a period of exercise, including sit-ups and weights, I've had a two-week-long bout of reflux that resists Prilosec and Maalox. My eating habits are pretty sound (eat early) and I've completely cut out alcohol, chocolate, etc. Could the abdominal strain in doing situps/weight work cause this resurgence? Also, I'm on testosterone replacement therapy and wonder if this could further weaken the lower esophagal sphincter (possibly through T aromatization to estrogen or by-products)? Any advice would be MUCH appreciated.
