Dear Mary: primary duodenogastric reflux in patients without prior surgery is rare and poorly understood. Actigal, a medication to thin out the bile seems to reduce the symptoms. Reglan may promote the gastric emptying and decrease the duodenogastric reflux. For severe cases when conservative medical treatment fails a " Duodenal Switch Operation" can be done to divert the flow of bile.
