Dear Dr.,

I have been meaning to ask this...but glad someone else brought it up. My 17 yr old son had a scope last year among many other tests and it showed that he has quite abit of bile reflux. He did have surgery going on 6 years ago where he had to have 6 resections of his intestines....is this where it all stemmed from I have wondered....as he never had this problem before his surgery. Although his symptoms...severe stomach pain as his stomach fills with gas and bile...severe lower back pain. He can get no relief unless he vomits several times...with alot of bile coming up. He is able to control his symptoms with 30mg Prevacid a day...but they come back in full force should he forget to take his med for a day or 2. Other tests show no obstructions or strictures....He was just at the GI's (one who works with children and teenagers only) for a check up and she switched him to Prevacid because after about 1yr the Pepcid stopped working for him. I asked her about any other options for him due to the fact that he is so young and I do not want him to have to take meds for the rest of his life..it is hard for him to remember at times to take them and then he suffers the symptoms. Is this other procedure you talked about a option for him??? She didn't mention anything like this for him.

If this may be a option who would I take him to see??? We live in Racine WI which is just south of Milwaukee...so if you know of anyone to take him too please let me know....it would be great if there was another option for him.
