Dear Doctor, I was treated in March for acute esophagitis and an ulcer due to H Pylori infection. The H Pylori was successfully eradicated as indicated by a negative breath test done two months ago. The stomach pain and acute esophageal pain resolved very quickly, but I still continue to have so much discomfort in my esophagus. It is nothing like the acute pain I initially had, but still very uncomfortable. Mainly bubbling and pain after my dinner. When I lie down to go to bed, I hear terrible gurgling like it is welling up in my chest. It usually settles down, and is gone by the morning. I recently read an article on a study conducted by four gastroenterologists at Hopkins. They gave 6 patients with Barrett's Esophagus 25 mg of Beta Carotene and within six months their Barrett's was totally healed. Apparently it had been succussful with other cases of Esophagitis. Have you heard of this recent therapy? I presently take no meds or antacids at all. I eat a very strict anti-reflux whole foods diet. Thank you!
