Dear Dr: I read the message from someone who described a lump in the abdomen - that it appeared and disappeared, sometimes when touched. I have exactly the same thing. Recently I had a barium swallow to check for hiatal hernia and strictures (have neither). Would the ventral hernia have shown up on this test? Or would I have had to have a full stomach, since that is when it tends to appear?
