1. The antacid medication that you are taking does not cause cancer. 2. Nissen fundoplication, either laparoscopic or open is the gold standard when discussing interventions to cure GERD. No procedure has EVER been scientifically proven to be superior to this procedure. 3. Whether you will have good relief of the symptoms that you speak of with a laparoscopic surgery is a complex issue, and I clearly do not have enough information to give you an educated opinion. 4. Your collapsed lung should not be a problem if you do have laparoscopic surgery
