Thistle: My doctor was very concerned about my burping/choking problems. He said he thinks my esophagus is still swollen. He added that I probably fall into the 15-20% category of patients who have complications. Most (typical) recover rapidly within a week or so. I spoke with a former patient who told me she was feeling a lot better in just 2 days after surgery.

I hope I am not scaring you from having it done. I was aware of the risk before I had it. But my experience with GERD has been so trying that I was willing to have this surgery done. Sometime in the future I will write about my experience with GERD.

Thanks for writing.
