I'm not sure the doctors know what they are dealing with when they dole out all these meds. I think you have a bad case of GERD from what you describe. I too have difficulty breathing when I get an attack. I'm not so sure this is Asthma related. It could be an irritated esophagus stimulating the vagus nerve. My gastroenterologist was telling me my breathing difficulties are in my head and I am probably anxious. I doubt this is the reason because lots of people tend to have breathing difficulties with GERD. You seem to think it is Asthma and they have written studies that show a relationship between GERD and Asthma, but I, personally, think there are other causes. You will have to experiment with what you eat and the meds you take.
