I have been diagnosed with having a chronically inflamed and ulcerated larynx. My ENT doctor seems to think it is caused by GERD. Last Tuesday he performed a biopsy to make sure it wasn't anything more serious (which luckily it wasn't). I am know on vocal rest for 3 weeks so my larynx can heal and I am also taking prevacid, antibiotics and I follow the diet. Here comes the funny part; I never ever noticed any acid reflux or heartburn, not even when I was 9 months pregnant. The only thing I occasionally had when pregnant was that if I would bend over after dinner I would have some regurgitation. The problem is that I am now on a diet (very boring) without knowing if it is helping any because I don't feel the A.R. to begin with. I can't keep a food diary either for the same reason!! I don't know if there is anyone out there that can give me some advise and if this is common. I guess not, since I can't find any information on people that have Acid Reflux but are not aware of it. My doctor said it is rare and of the rare cases I am the worst he has ever seen! Great!
I hope someone can help me out or direct me to a website or person that might be able to shed some light on this.
