Elavil is not working because it decreases anxiety. There are much better drugs for that. It works because it treats hypersensitivity. Many of us have sensitive stomachs and esophagus. Just a little gas or acid gives us great pain. The elavil works by desensitizing nerve endings. It is the treatment of choice for fibromyalgia. Problem is it can make you very tired even the next day if you take it at night. I am curious if elavil has helped reduce burping for anyone?
