Elavil does not help treat Gerd, what it does is up your pain thrush hold level so you can tolerate the pain and the anxiety it causes your body ,Anti-depressant are bad for Gerd, they relax you, which also relax the LES muscle, thats bad news if you have Gerd.Paxil,Remeroan,Elavil and many more do this.before agreeing to take these ask dr why he is giving you medication for a mental illness, when your problem is acid reflux.I would guess he dosnt understand Gerd, and trying anything to help you(which just might hurt you more than help you in the long run)
