Hi all, I'm 11 days past my lap Nissen, and everything is going well. I am still eating mostly soft food (that is, stuff that isn't hard to chew), and about once a day I have esophageal spasms, because I forget to take small bites, etc. My surgeon taught me something I hadn't seen here before, so I'll mention it -- drink something warm before you start eating so that everything is relaxed. I just have hot water usually.
My biggest problem has been excruciating pain in one shoulder, from the carbon dioxide still left in me. It was much worse than anything else surrounding the surgery, and much worse than any pain I've ever had before. It's still present, but much better and I've been off pain meds for about 5 days now. The next worst problem was that the hospital bed was incredibly uncomfortable. (I was there about 44 hours.)
The best news is that I feel SO much better. This has been very easy compared to what I was living with pre-surgery! I won't be on here much at all in the near future, but I'll answer questions when I can.
