It is possible to have reflux inflaming the vocal cords and not be experiencing any of the other symptoms like heartburn etc. Before I started having the heartburn symptom, I had a nagging nonproductive cough caused by microaspiration (small amounts of stomach acid getting into the lungs). The 24 hr pH test would be able to tell if you do indeed have acid present in your esophagus / vocal cord area. If that is the case, you may be able to tolerate one of the other PPI's or perhaps a H2 blocker. Sounds like you may want to visit a good gastroenterologist.
