I have a question about med. dosage. I came down with acute acid refluc in January and my GP told me to take 30 mg. of Prevacid, two times a day. This wasn't helping that much, so my Gastro. told me to take 40 mg. of Prilosec, twice a day. This helped immensly, and I felt almost normal. I later couldn't affort to take 80 mg. of prilosec, so went down to 40. I was diagnosed with Barretts last week and the nurse who talked to me told me that I shouldn't be taking 80 mg., it was too much. But I am having more reflux problems. I also just elevated my bed 4 inches yesterday, and still woke up with acid in my mouth. I have a new insurance co., and can now afford to take the 80 mg. I would think with Barrets its ok if that's the only thing that works (I also take 300 - 450 mg. Zantac, which I don't think does anything). Has anyone heard thta 80 mg. Prilosec is so bad, especially if you have Barretts, and its the only thing that works? Thanks
