there seems to be a gen-defect in your family ?! do you know , what exactly is inherited ? A weak LES , sensitive esophagus , or aggressive stomach-fluid ?

So , we can get Barrett's without ever having heartburn . It must not necessarily be the acid that causes Barrett's , maybe pepsin or bile or other ingredients in the reflux. And if we manage to control the acid with drugs , that doesn't seem to help a lot in preventing Barrett's. I'm not even sure , whether (fundo)-surgery helps to prevent or improve Barrett's.I found articles suggesting no and others yes. What's the general opinion here ?

Werner.
