Yeah, well the new one I saw last week pretty much did the same thing. He said he'd gotten some literature from Bard, but hadn't yet heard of the Stretta (the FDA approval came the next day!) And then he said, "What do you want a procedure for when you can just take medicine?" This in spite of the fact that I just had told him I developed allergic reactions to the PPI's (he wants me to retry). Maybe I already posted this, it's just that it is so aggravating. Guess what? I don't give a D...what some doctors say. A major GI who was on the FDA approval board said in a press release, "This is going to change the way heartburn is treated." What is he talking about, blind studies?! You mean, go down someone's throat with an endoscope that doesn't have radio frequencies or a little sewing machine on the end of it and fool the subject? Lol. That is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard of. Talk about killing hope. Maybe someone has an idea about why the doctor resistance..I'm not that informed. Could it be because they think they'll lose patients, or what? BTW, I am on a major IBS board, and we were all waiting since last July for the first drug specifically for IBS to be approved. It came out March 1, and only affects the brain-gut connection --it's in a new class of advanced drugs that don't cause side effects. My GI (of the time)said snottily, "I doubt this will help you. Are you expecting some miracle?" I answered, "No, I just want my life back." I haven't tried it yet, because my IBS is mild and my Gerd is more worrisome -- but everyone who has, pretty much, is raving, "I HAVE MY LIFE BACK!" So much for these doctors who dash hope. Sorry to go on so long. I do get long-winded.
