Hello all. I have been looking for several hours here and elsewhere to see if the usage of Prilosec can cause pernicious anemia --B12 deficiency. My 67 year old mother in law has just been diagnosed with this...she began taking Prilosec last year after being diagnosed with GERD (which I am doubting after hearing all of your stories...they seemmuch more severe than what she had) . The only other medication she is on is Premerin and multi vitamins with 40% of Vitaman B12 in it each day. I know B12 must have the Intrinsic Factor (IF) in stomach to work but I can't find if Prilosec affects the IF.Your quick response is much appreciated.
