I phoned Curon a few weeks ago and was sent a packet of info about the Stretta procedure. I live very close to Curon and to one of their test sites. Someone from Curon phoned me and asked if I would be interested in participating in the study. I passed their telephone screening and was told that the study site coordinator will contact me in 2 to 3 weeks. I believe she said the follow up period is one year.
Not sure if I want to participate or not. I would not want to have to go through the procedure a second time if I ended up in the control group (50% chance) in the study. Also have questions, such as would the subjects be required to discontinue meds for a period of time? I do great on Prilosec and would be hesitant to give it up for the follow-up period. There are limits to my altruism! Would be happy to receive input from anyone out there.
