Article in Annals of Internal Medicine 1994:120:211-15 by Marcuard et al. indicates the lack of stomach acid may prevent absorption and suuplements may be useful since they don't require stomach acid according to the article. I wonder if taking prilosec for just a short time would cause the problem...but maybe the resident M.D. could answer the question. I too am on prilosec maintenance...2 months now.
