Healing inflamed esophagus

I would like to know how long it generally takes for one's esophagus to heal. I initially experienced problems with my esophagus after an attack of GERD in September. I had an endoscopy and the GI Doctor discovered my esophagus was mildly inflamed. It deal heal for approximately one month and then it began to get inflamed again which has prevented me from eating many foods (particularly meat and bread). This was probably due to the fact that I was on the lowest dose of Prevacid (15mg.) daily. Two days ago my GI Doctor upped my dose to 30mg twice a day. My throat is still sore and I really can't eat too many hardsolids. My question is, how long does it normally take an inflamed esophagus to heal? According to my GI doctor, I have no strictures, narrowing, or Barrett's though a portion of my inflamed esophagus was biopsed. It is going on four months and I have been going back and forth with this problem. I would love to eat a normal meal. Thank you
