Worsening symptoms

Hello:

My acid reflux symptoms have been very well controlled for about the last 5 months with Protonix (I have tried all the PPI's it seems the protonix seems to have the most effect.)

Recently I went of the drug for about 1 week for a PH test my symptoms weren't to bad so I went on a half dose (20mgs) for a few more days! My symptoms have returned big time from Thanksgiving to current 12\16. I have had considerable reflux along with problems swallowing and throat tightness.

Why did my symptoms worsen? I have been on a full dose for 3 weeks now and I still am having problems. I understand the rebound effect of suppressing my acid for so long, shouldn't I feel better by now? Am I starting at zero after being off my full dose for 10 days?
