hiatal hernia and bentyl

hi, i was recently in the hospital and diagnosed with colitis. I am awaiting a colonoscopy to find the cause. in the mean time i am taking bentyl to control symptoms, but i have noticed that my hiatal hernia just feels like it is about to pop through my abdomen. it is very painful. after doing some research about bentyl, i have seen many times that it says not to take it with a hiatal hernia. it never says why....do you have any idea? please let me know. thanks
