question on symptoms(throat and asthma)

i have dealt with acid indigestion for quite awhile (7 yrs). in the last two months i have experienced a feeling of pressure in my throat, almost like an obstruction blocking my airway. generally it clears up but only for a moment either after i belch. or strain to pull belch out of my throat. generally there is no pain, just a shortness of breath. this seems to be triggered around smoke, and or after i have been awake for an hour or two, i am usually perfectly fine upon waking up but by midday i am so irritated. as for reflux i usually get it 2 to 5 days out of the week but have been self treating it with over the counter meds. i am planning to seek medical treatment in about a week, and was only seeking some info to cool my nerves. thanks damvious
