Pregnancy and Prilosec

I am 24 and have had GERD for 6 years. Recently, my husband and I decided to start a family. The problem is that the docs say not to take Prilosec while pregnant. I'm not pregnant yet, so my question is should I stop taking it now to be safe? What medications are safe? The thought of going without Prilosec is terrifying (last time I tried I was spitting up acid in the sink-gross.) What about Prevacid? Is this safe for pregnant women? Thanks!
