Lee: I dont beleive in air swallowing - please comment

I have suffered from gas for 1½ years - burp constantly- and diagnosed with weak LES and heartburn. A few months I tries one week of eating ONLY oat porridge and drinking tea and the gas problem was totally gone. It came back the same day I returned to regular diet. You would think there would be plenty of opportunity to swallow air on that diet (eating hot stuff with a spoon and drinking hot tea - appr. 5 cups a day) but apparently that didn't happen. Lee, could you suggest an explanation for this? Thanks Marianne
