Bentyl contains to seperate medications to treat irritable bowel syndrome but not colitis. The first medication is a tranquillizer that decreases stress. IBS is worsened with stress. The second medication is an anticholinergic that help decrease intestinal spasms. There is no contraindication to taking Bentyl with a hiatal hernia. The symptoms that you are experiencing are unlikely related to the hiatal hernia. Bentyl may make bloating symptoms worse by decreasing gastric emtyping. If Bentyl is causing problems, you will need to try a different medication.
