Karen: It would help to see your esophageal motility studies, but if the pressures as high as 100 they might suggest a "nut-cracker esophagus". This would usually produce a sensation that food sticks after eating; rather the sensation that something is left behind. Sometimes an esophageal diverticuli (Zenker's diverticuli) will have patients sense that something is left behind, and in fact, they will often bring up that food at a later time. This problem is best seen on a barium swallow. My suggestion would be to review your esophageal motility studies with your doctors, and go from there. I do not know of a surgical treatment for globus sensation. I hope this helps. L. Cagle, M.D.
