I'm not sure why or how it works but in my experience with my son (I also don't know if its different in children) GERD does indeed aggravate or even cause apnea. Once my son's GERD was controlled (fundo), his apnea disappeared. He had long periods of oxygen desaturation due to obstructive apnea into the 60s at night as well as periods of central apnea.
