My father (aged 64) was diagnosed with GERD about two years ago. Apparently he had had a bout of it before about 20 years ago--said he carried a bottle of Maalox with him everywhere he went for a long time and eventually it went away. Well, this most recent time, when it came back he was treated with Prevacid, 30 mg. a day. He modified his diet and did a lot of vitamin supplementation and he says it's gone. Now he is eating whatever he wants (fajitas, beer!!) I just wanted to pass this info along.
