stomach pains

I have been diagnosed with moderate esophagitis, mild gastritis, hiatal hernia. Diagnosed in February of 2000. Doc put me on Prevacid, took 30 mg twice a day and in I guess about August started having bad stomach pains and irritable bowel symptoms. Doc wanted to do a colonoscopy to check for other problems and also did a HIDA scan to check gallbladder, found to have a poor contractility of gallbladder. I stopped taking Prevacid in November and after about two to two and a half weeks symptoms were gone. Now stomach pains are back but have not been on Prevacid and it is just stomach pains and heartburn now. (Hardly any heartburn though). The stomach pains are just under my sternum pretty much stays in the middle, sometimes radiates to both sides but is always high up and not in lower abdomen. Pepto-Bismol helps with the pains. I go to my Doc on Monday but I am afraid she is going to want to do the colonoscopy and I don't feel like it has anything to do with my colon. Can you maybe tell me what it might be from? I am going to talk to my doc some more about it but just wanted another opinion.

Sorry so long but thought I should explain symptoms. And the pains are like someone is squeezing the middle of my stomach, kind of like menstrual cramps only higher up.
