I will try once again. You, like so many laypersons and medical professionals alike, believe you have to have a hiatal hernia to have reflux. You do not. I operated on a young man yesterday who has severe reflux and clearly did not have a hiatal hernia. If you have had a 24 hour pH test and that shows documentable reflux into the upper esophagus and larynx, then I would say your respiratory symptoms may very well be related to reflux. If the test only shows reflux in the lower esophagus, then the respiratory symptoms would not be related to reflux and have another origin. If your heartburn is treated with meds and alternative treatments and your respiratory complaints continue, then I would say they are not reflux related. That is what I have to offer in this short venue. Alan White
