Jason you could very well have two things that are wrong with you.One would be your sinusis and the second could be you have gerd.Your syptom of laying on one side and the lower nostril getting clogged and then I bet you roll over on the other side and then the other nostril gets clogged is something I have exprienced many times. The cause of this happening is not gerd. The cause of this is you either have a structural problem in you sinusis OR you have allergies.Either one of these can give you sinus headaches and cause you sinus passages to clog up.I would suspect you also have post nasal drip.you may not realize you have it and many people don't because it comes on gradually and people don't realize the syptoms.but if you find yourself swallowing alot, burping ,or that you easily get sore throats you have post nasal drip. Also all this sinus fluid is a irritation to your esophagus ,les valve and stomach. It can also cause you to have loose stools.IN addition to those things the fluid carries with it tiny air bubbles.AS this fluid goes into your stomach it distends your stomach causing it to inflate. This inflation can cause your les valve to shorten and allow the intragastric pressure to overcome the les valve which will make your les valve open ,giving you reflux and chest pains.
