Hiatal Hernia , PPI's

I had an Endoscopy this week. Doc found i had a hiatal hernia but said that wouldn't cause hte relux so he ordered a small bowel series.. not sure why.. also i ran out of prevacid i started taking Zantac and since then (3 days) my symptoms are much less severe. Does this make sense?
