Symptoms return after nissen

I had the Nissen Fundoplication done over 1 year ago. A few months after i had it done, i got the flu. I vomitted and my symptoms returned. My doctor thought the wrap came undone. Did the upper GI and showed it was still intact. Symptoms continued still...then doc put me on elavil this did stop my symptoms:chest pain, burning, lump in esophagus, etc. He felt that since the wrap was still intact i must be suffering from overly sensitive nerves in my esophagus. I went off the medicine 3 months later and symptoms returned. I feel frustrated because the surgery worked great for 3 months and then i got the flu and have problems except for when i took the elavil. My doc has no other ideas. The surgery worked for 3 months, why do i need medicine to feel good again. Could the flu have loosened the wrap hence my symptoms returned but the upper gi still shows it intact???? My doc won't do the ph study again because upper gi shows it is intact. Could you please tell me, could my question be possible? Any ideas from you on what might have happened so i can mention to my doctor. I need some other ideas i don't know where else to look.
