No, I'm not contemplating surgery right now, because I seem to be doing well with H2 blockers. In fact, I've been taking axid for a few months, and I feel much better than I did last fall. I still get some symptoms, so my doctor doesn't think that I should discontinue the medication. He believes that Axid is safe, and there are no signs that it is hurting me in any way, so I'm going to stick with it for now.

However, it seems as if GERD is a progressive disease. I am planning ahead for the possibility that things get worse, and I hope that something like endocinch has a good track record by then. BTW, I think that worrying about everything contributes to my GERD in the first place, but it is quite difficult to change ones personality. :-)

Good luck with your surgery. 70% or so seems like pretty good odds as long as the nissen is still an option later.
