Your nose can certainly be numbed before passage of the catheter, which is very small, and I don't think the sinus surgery, as long as everything is healed, should make it any worse. I don't hear patients complain about the passage of the catheter; instead, some have problems leaving it in for the 24 hours. I tried one just so I would know what it was like, and frankly, was pretty much able to forget about it.
