Hi Was wonderng can a hiatal hernia cause pain?I had the scope and stomach looked fine,all that was found was a small hiatal hernia.I am going for the other 2 tests shortly.Why do i get such awful pain? I feel it start in stomach(like an awful cramp)and then my back and arms ache and sometimes when real bad my chest will hurt,All this untill i belch big and then the pain is gone.It can take up to a half hour or maybe 2 min. to stop and its a killer!Dr think it a little acid refluxing from hernia and will set off a spasm.I know one thing i can't live the rest of my life like this or the men it white coats can take me away cause its so painful.It mainly happens in evening or sits me straight up out of a sound sleep and i have to wait for the belch to feel relief and doing this all the time is leaving me drained mentally and physically.I have no life at night at all.Some times it might be a small pain and i belch right away and its gone and then other times i might have 3 bad ones(like last night)and after a while again i belch and the pain is gone.This is a nightmare and i am only 41 and in fear of doing this the rest of my days unless i go nuts in the next month from it.I was fine untill taking an antibiotic back in Oct. of 2000 (azithromax)and have had this pain everyday since then.Also watch diet very close and have lost 40 lbs. and getting to thin and dr don't understand why and i told him how can i not lose eating such lowfat foods.I only take 4 zantac a day.I tried 40mg of prilosec and then 30 mg of prevacid and they made me worse and sick to stomach.I know spasms can be painful,but everyday and everyday is wearing me out fast!Thanks for your time!
