chest pain and burning in throat

I had gallbladder surgery in Nov.2000.Since that time I have had chest pain and burning. It wakes me up at night.My doctor put me on prevacid 30mg The only thing that has helped is drinking hot water.The pain has increased in the last week.What sould I do?
