My husband just had an upper endoscopy today and the doctor said he had changes that needed to be watched closely or they could turn into cancer. He mentioned that he had Barrett's and that a fundoplication procedure would be recommended. I just want to know what all the procedure involves. My husband has a twin brother that had this procedure done a few years ago and had a very bad experience. They evidently did not do the procedure correctly. He lost a massive amount of weight and was very weak, could not eat and almost died. They had to redo his surgery and now he is fine, but I want to know what all the procedure entails. The doctor mentioned that it can now be done with lasers. We are awaiting the biopsies and also he is scheduled for an ultrasound of his stomach. Any information you can provide will be much appreciated.
