I am 2 years and 8 months post op (Nissen Fundo). I had never been in a hospital before the surgery. No surgery of any type. So I understand your concern. But, believe me that it is far easier than you think...especially if you have a well qualified surgeon. And the results are fantastic. I damaged my lungs by aspirating my reflux material...I now have adult onset asthma caused by the Reflux. Other than the asthma drugs, I don't take even a Rolaid for Reflux. I can swollow fine. I started to burp about 9 months ago. I have never had to vomit, so I don't know if there would be a roblem. My surgeon didn't seem to be too concerned about that. But..you will wonder why you waited so long to have such a complete cure. And the cure is complete the minute you leave the operating room. The second and third day post op are the worst. Every day after that is better and better. Soft foods for a few weeks. No steak for about three months. But after that, no restrictions. Tonight we are having pasta with garlic and onion sauce and red wine. Before I couldn't do it because the night would have been miserable. No longer. I sleep laying down...and all night long. Don't even think twice. Just do it...you won't regret it for one minute.
