The post-Nissen belch and vomit question

As a result of seeing so many posts about these, I was prompted to ask my surgeon about this when I had my final appointment the other day. The response: Everyone should be able to do this sooner or later. Exactly WHEN is individual. The surgery itself should not make either impossible. But every so often, someone will wind up unable to do either, but this is supposed to be rare.

As usual, we Nissen folks have to find out for ourselves what our fate is. In my case, I have vomited so few times in my life that I can recount the specifics of each time (just twice before I turned 21, for example). It's been 20 years or so since the last time. So it's always possible that I'll forever wonder if I'm not vomiting due to the surgery or because it's just how things are going. I am able to belch, so at least I do have that answer! ;-)

I should add that it amused my surgeon that I was wondering about this.
