Janie, I absolutely agree with you that if the GERD issue is completely nerve-related, acupuncture would be very good to consider. When I posted my previous response, I was not thinking of that. I'm not as familiar with all the causes as most people here are, since my own case was so peculiar and was discovered in my first upper GI.

Acupuncture helped me enormously following my Nissen too -- it banished my shoulder pain immediately (whereas Vicodin didn't touch it), for example. Regardless of what causes GERD, I think post-Nissen treatments might help many of us. I've noticed that almost all uses of acupuncture are considered "anecdotal," and I believe this is probably due to the medical establishment's resistance to alternative medicine.
